Sunshine House provides care for children aged 0-18 years who have a clinical nursing need. These children include those with life limiting conditions; complex health needs; post-operative recuperation and palliative care. The unit also offers places to children who may need terminal care.
Sunshine House works in partnership with social services in terms of providing places for children with the above needs, in the event of family breakdown or crisis. The unit provides respite for children in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire.
Charitable donations raised by staff and friends of Sunshine House are used to continually refurbish sensory equipment and to ensure children have a happy, positive and stimulating break.
The unit shares information and care plans with the special schools in order to provide contunuity of care essential for this group of vulnerable children. Visitors are always welcome at Sunshine House. If you would like to arrange a visit please feel free to contact them on (01482) 587011 and mention you have visited PBS Construction (N.E) Ltd website.
PBS Construction (N.E) Ltd decided to sponsor Sunshine House when Caroline Dickinson, whose son Dan attends Sunshine House, contacted Peter Smurthwaite (Managing Director) who is also the Chairman for Bridlington Town AFC, to see if she could use the facilties to hold a fundraising day in 2007 and this has now become an annual event.
In 2008 Peter Smurthwaite was asked to attend the cheque presentation at Sunshine House and was then invited to have a look around the premises and see the work that the staff do at the unit. Peter was so impressed with the care and attention provided for the children and how happy they were in the environment that has been created for them he decided that this was a charity definitely worth supporting, especially with it being to close to our Head Office.
In May 2009 we entered the Lord Mayor's Parade and won a plaque for Best Presented Float Award.
In July 2009 Peter and his son's Glenn and Brendan organised a Charity Race Night which was a huge success raising to date £3,100 for Sunshine House. This was with the help of some of clients our who sponsored races and to the many people who bought a horse for the event.
If you would like to donate any funds to Sunshine House or would be interested in sponsoring any future events we hold please contact us.

PBS Construction (N.E.) Ltd assisted with the installation of the Phillip Larkin Statue which was unveiled in Hull Paragon Interchange. Standing at seven feet tall and sculpted by Martin Jennings the bronze statue it certainly makes an impression.

PBS Construction (N.E.) Ltd sponsored the Larkin with Toads event in Hull over 10 weeks in 2010. The toads were auctioned on Saturday 25th September to raise money for local chartities and we are very pleased to have offered our contribution to these worthwhile causes.
Our toads are Cityscape which can be found at the East Park Animal Education Centre and Floral at Pearson Park.
