- highways, bridges
A high level of professionalism and expertise has enabled us to complete contracts on time and with minimum inconvenience. Along with highways, the bridges department is our forte.
We primarily work for local authorities across Hull and East Yorkshire though in most recent years our works in the bridges division has involved working on a variety of projects across North Yorkshire for North Yorkshire County Council.
Recent examples of our bridges work include Mowthorpe Bridge near Scarborough. A project which involved closing the existing bridge and creating a temporary vehicle access to maintain traffic flow while works were being undertaken. The Grade II ashlar sandstone bridge was renewed by expert stonemasons whilst keeping the bridge to its true original identity.
Our company also recently completed a project in late 2016 involving repairs to Grovehill Bridge on the Industrial Estate in Beverley for East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The scheme involved working under the bridge arch on a pontoon sitting on the river, renewing the damaged brickwork across the aged structure. The project also involved demolishing and rebuilding each brickwork parapet, whilst traffic over the bridge remained live which was most notably used by HGV’s.
Whether over water or land, we have enjoyed working on many bridges, including Woodhall Bridge over the River Wharfe, for which we reconstructed the foundation and Pier to the wrought iron bridge.
